Laphroaig distillery presents Laphroaig Cairdeas 2022 Warehouse 1 52.2%, released in 2022. There were an unknown number of bottles in this release.
This whisky has a unique nose of peat, sweet and nutty with “medicinal” notes. strong vanilla cake, fudge, heather-honey, golden syrup, walnuts and nutmeg, complimented by powerful peat-reek and ashy notes of tar combing with sweet manuka honey and burnt toffee on the palate, and topped off by a peaty and acidic with lingering herbal and spicy notes leading to a floral aftertaste finish.

Laphroaig
The distillery is situated in the south of Islay (eye -lah) and was established in 1815, by Alexander and Donald Johnston. The Johnston Family ran the distillery 1954, the last of which being the legendary Ian Hunter. Hunter was a visionary , rebuilding parts of the distillery and doubling the output, he also overhauled the malting floor adding large windows and fans to impart the flavours of the sea air. Hunter left the distillery to Bessie Williamson, Laphroaig’s first distillery owner remained on Islay for over forty years. The distillery was sold to Seagar Evans & Co in the 1960’s and has changed hands several times, now being owned by Beam Suntory. Since 1994 Laphroaig, which means ‘beautiful hollow by the broad bay’ in Gaelic, has been the only whisky to carry the Royal Warrant of HRH, Prince Charles of Wales, which was awarded in person during a visit to the distillery. Laphroaig has a visitor centre open year round, with tours and tastings
