Port Charlotte distillery presents Port Charlotte 2012 SC:01 55.2%, released in 2024. There were an unknown number of bottles in this release.

This whisky has a unique nose of sweet, stone fruit and a delicate floral perfume on the nose with hints of peaches in syrup, dried apricots, honeyed melon and ripe pineapple. brown sugar, vanilla-fudge, caramel and marzipan are followed by heady notes of honeysuckle and heather. peat smoke and warm toasted oak come through with a little time to bring depth and complexity to the dram, complimented by the warmth and supple texture a balance of light peat smoke and ripe fruit. another sip confirms both the beautiful viscosity and depth of flavour, as beneath the delicate smoke comes earthy notes of leather and boot polish. the oak brings strength and sweet vanilla, chocolate and citrus to complement the waves of fruit on the palate, and topped off by a a dram you wish would last forever, the wonderful marine notes and earthy peat smoke linger on the palate with a citrus tang finish.

Port Charlotte

The Bruichladdich distillery was constructed on the isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland in 1881 by Barnett Harvey. Then in 1886 Bruichladdich Distillery Company Ltd was founded. The site lies to the south west of the island and is one of nine working distilleries there. There have been numerous owners over the years and a time of  consistency when Invergordon Distillers took over in 1968. In 1993 Whyte & Mackay bought Invergordon Distillers and the distillery was mothballed in 1995. Bruichladdich was then sold to Murray McDavid in 2000. Since 2001 when production started again the philosophy was to push the boundaries of the norm for whisky making. The distillery has become renowned for its innovation and willingness to experiment. There are three main lines produced, unpeated Bruichladdich, heavily peated Port Charlotte and ultra heavily peated Octomore. Not forgetting the botanist gin also distilled on site. The distillery has been very busy over the past twenty years producing new releases, batches and vintages of these great diverse whiskies.
