Aberfeldy distillery presents Aberfeldy 20 year old handfill Cask No. 21513 51.2%, released in 2021. There were an unknown number of bottles in this release.
This whisky has a unique nose of sweetness with wood,soft vanilla, peaches and apples coming together with dessicated coconut and freshly cut wood (all rather evocative of lollipop or choc ice sticks), sawdust and some earthy and grassy aromas. the addition of water brings out the honeyed aromas further and adds very pleasant orange blossoms into the experience., complimented by creamy with good texture and body, honey and vanilla again, but now with much more cask coming to bear – ginger, nutmeg and dusty spices. there’s a slight edge of salinity here which is both interesting, and unusual for an in-land whisky. water reduces the overall impact of flavour but adds some soft toffee on the palate, and topped off by a medium in length and quite drying with licks of ginger spice fading on the finish.

The distillery is nestled within a lush valley in the foothills of the Central Highlands of Scotland, in the village of Aberfeldy and a stone’s throw from the birthplace of our founder, John Dewar. The pool of the water go, The Pitilie burn is the water source for Aberfeldy, known to contain deposits of alluvial gold. Aberfeldy has a distinct character, Longer fermentation times and oak casks make their whisky full with honeyed richness. Whisky is then slowly distilled in Alembic copper pot stills and fermented in barrels, hogshead and butts (Aberfeldy, 2024) Aberfeldy continues to welcome whisky lovers from the around the world through its doors.
