Independent is where private companies purchase whisky casks from distilleries and bottle them with their own labels and packaging. These casks will have a higher alcohol by volume percentage, will be limited in number of bottles for each expression. They are normally of the same quality produced by the distillery and generally have a lower price point for customers.
