Tobermory distillery presents Tobermory 2008 Red Wine Cask #100380 70cl / 60.5%, released in 2020. There were an unknown number of bottles in this release.
This whisky has a unique nose of tangy grapes, dark berries and sweet malt fade to reveal a burst of orange and marzipan, complimented by thick honey, figs, raisins and blackcurrant jam are met with gentle oak and a shaving of dark chocolate intertwined with candied citrus and vanilla on the palate, and topped off by a sweet dryness with lingering notes of orange peel finish.

Tobermory
Tobermory meaning ‘Mary’s Well’ in Gaelic was established in 1798 and is the only Isle of Mull distillery and sits at the centre of the Island community. It is also one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. Financial troubles following the war resulted in a halt in operation for 41 years, after a sale to Burn Stewart Distillers in 1993 the distillery took on a new life. In 2013 Tobermory was sold once again and underwent a hiatus in production to facilitate essential maintenance and renovation, reopening in 2019. The distillery produces two distinct single malts: a non-peated Tobermory and a heavily-peated Ledaig as well as Tobermory gin. The two malts are produced using the same stills, wash backs, mash tuns and the same process water but the two are totally different in character due to the malted barley used. Today it is a thriving, expressive and unique distillery on the Hebridean Island of Mull. The distillery’s visitor centre is open year round for tours and tastings (Tobermory Distillery, 2024)
