A limited release matured in rare wood native to Hokkaidō, the northernmost prefecture in Japan.
For ten years, classic first-fill sherry and refill casks laid the foundation. Then, for six long years, Mizunara Oak did its quiet work – infusing the spirit with whispers of sandalwood, soft vanilla, and spring blossom.
Matured in the Highlands, shaped by Japanese oak, and bottled at 53.4% ABV, this 16 Year Old release is the third in our Oak Masters’Series, a celebration of the world’s finest oaks. With just 3,195 bottles available worldwide.

Tasting Notes
Nose: On the nose, spiced apples unfolds with baked sponge cake, light hazelnut, coconut, mandarin, peach, soft toffee, oak, lime and a hint of Japanese incense.
Palate: The palate is soft and rounded with a silky mouthfeel, sweet almonds open onto stewed pear, more lime, crisp oak, milk chocolate truffle, vanilla and a hint of baked banana,
Finish: The finish is long and sweet with cream covered fruits, sultanas and a lasting nuttiness.

Glengoyne Distillery
Back in 1820 George Connell secretly and illegally began distilling, avoiding the Exciseman, at Burnfoot Farm. Crucially George makes the decision to use In 1833 he decided to work within the law and acquire a licence to distill at Glenguin of Burnfoot.
It was in 1907 when the name changed to the Glengoyne distillery by the distillery manager, William McGeachie. In 1966 the distillery was re-built to its present form to cope with demand.
In 2003 the distillery was bought from the Edrington Group by family owned business Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd. In 2014 the old barley kiln was converted into the Warehouse No.1 housing a display of oak casks.
Today the distillery offers Warehouse No.1 tours, tasting tours, malt master tours, masterclass tours and welcomes group visits. Open 7 days the shop offers a range of whiskies to buy and served by friendly staff (Ian McLeod Distillers LTD 2024)
