Cardhu distillery presents Cardhu 16 Year Old 58.2%, released in 2021. There were 3000 bottles in this release.
This whisky has a unique nose of lively, fresh and floral aromas yield grassy top notes with ripe orchard fruits and a trace of vanilla, on a light wood balsa wood base, complimented by creamy smooth texture, staring sweet, then there is a delicious spicy dryness as a really peppery warmth on the palate, and topped off by a pleasingly long , sweet chilli-pepper heat lingers in the finish.

Cardhu
Was founded by John and Helen Cumming in 1811. Beginning as an illicit distillery, licensed in 1824, it can be found near Archiestown in Speyside Scotland. Cardhu distillery – previously called Cardow – must be one of the best-located distilleries in Speyside: high on the hills on the north side of the Spey Valley with delightful views to the south. Though they take their name from the Gaelic for Black Rock, water is sourced from Mannoch hill and more recently the Lynne burn due to increased demand. The malts of Cardhu have a warmth and cleanliness of taste, often described as silky, making them both elegant and approachable. Cardhu was successfully ran by two generations of women, Helen and Elizabeth Cumming. These women were determined, skilled, generous and loyal to the community defining Cardhu as ‘whisky with a heart’. In 1872 Elizabeth Cummings daughter-in-law took over the running of the distillery and set about refining the flavour and character of the whisky we know today. The distillery was the first to partner with Johnnie Walker & sons in 1893 sold with the condition that the Cumming family remain at the helm of day-to-day. Diageo continuing as a key part of Johnnie Walker blended whiskies. The distillery underwent renovation, completed in 2021, outside stands an amazing statue of John and Helen Cumming.
