This whisky has a unique nose of rice apricot, charred pineapple, mango and butterscotch, complimented by tropical fruits with honey sweetness, subtle peatsmoke and hints of eucalyptus on the palate, and topped off by a a mouth-warming with ripe fruits lingering on the tongue finish.

Founded over two centuries ago in 1779, the distillery was the first recorded distillery on the island of Islay (pronounced ‘eye-la’) and is one of the oldest in the whole of Scotland. Islay malts are renowned for their peaty smokiness and Bowmore is no exception. The distillery carefully smokes it’s malt in a peat-fired kiln, just as its ancestors did over 200 years ago. Bowmore was the first planned village in the country, founded in 1768 and the distillery produced its first Islay Malt 11 years later in 1779. You will find the distillery on the shores of Loch Indaal, a sea loch that opens out into the Atlantic Ocean. Its proximity to the sea plays a vital role in shaping the final character of our spirit, which breathes in the salty sea air all the while it’s maturing. The distillery houses a vistor centre and bar and is open for tours year round (Bowmore, 2024)
