This whisky has a unique nose of beginning with sweet and fruit notes of heather honey, vanilla with subtle cherries and lychees combine with a floral character or iris and a hint of eucalyptus. oak spices, liquorice and fresh tobacco leaves evolve with a smooth touch of aniseed and mint, complimented by rich, sweet and multi-spiced noted of vanilla fudge, golden syrup and butter scotch blend of thyme and white pepper, giving way to woody notes of dry oak with hazelnut, demerara sugar, maple syrup and dstes on the palate, and topped off by a sweet and woody with notes of liquorice stick delivery a spicy mouth feel with a touch of peat smoke finish.

Founded over two centuries ago in 1779, the distillery was the first recorded distillery on the island of Islay (pronounced ‘eye-la’) and is one of the oldest in the whole of Scotland. Islay malts are renowned for their peaty smokiness and Bowmore is no exception. The distillery carefully smokes it’s malt in a peat-fired kiln, just as its ancestors did over 200 years ago. Bowmore was the first planned village in the country, founded in 1768 and the distillery produced its first Islay Malt 11 years later in 1779. You will find the distillery on the shores of Loch Indaal, a sea loch that opens out into the Atlantic Ocean. Its proximity to the sea plays a vital role in shaping the final character of our spirit, which breathes in the salty sea air all the while it’s maturing. The distillery houses a vistor centre and bar and is open for tours year round (Bowmore, 2024)
