Aberlour distillery presents Aberlour 15 year old Oloroso Sherry Distillery Exclusive 48.1%, released in 2023. There were an unknown number of bottles in this release.
This whisky has a unique nose of milk chocolate raisins, rich prunes, and dried apricots with notes of christmas spice, hazelnut praline and toasted oak, complimented by festive fruitcake with dark chocolate sauce sweet sticky dates and roasted walnuts followed by tangy rhubarb jam and gentle spice of ginger, clove and cinnamon on the palate, and topped off by a incredibly rich, nutty with warming spice finish.

Aberlour
Founded in Aberlour-on-Spey, Scotland by James Fleming in 1879 the distillery began production in 1880. This distillery was the second, at a new site in the town, following the original burning down and the owners leaving to establish a still elsewhere. The distillery draws water from St. Drostan’s well on site, named after a Columban monk. In 1892 a further devastating fire is experienced and Aberlour is rebuilt once more. Mr Fleming died in 1895 and is buried village cemetery opposite the distillery, keeping an eternal watchful eye. The distillery went on to change hands in 1892 and 1921 finally acquisitioned by Pernod Ricard in 1974. They later merged with Chivas brothers in 2001, who soon opened a visitor centre on site. Today the Distillery houses a visitor centre, shop and offers tastings only at present due to extensive renovations and building works ongoing onsite (Scotchwhisky.com, 2024).
